Madness Interactive: In Vain is a fast-paced 2D side-scrolling run-and-gun shooter set in the chaotic world of Nevada. Created by Outsidetheboxgames for Madness Day 2026, this gory Madness Combat fan game blends classic and modern series influences with frantic gunplay, physics-driven combat, and brutal arcade action.
Your mission begins with an absurd crime: the Deputy stole your pie. Now, armed with whatever weapons you can find, you must chase him through hostile areas while blasting, punching, throwing, and grappling your way through waves of enemies. Use bullet time to slow chaotic firefights, swing from ropes, and exploit the environment to survive.
The arsenal includes the Deagle, suppressed Mac 10, semi-auto shotgun, stockless AK47, and Benelli M4, while enemies such as evasive Soldats and tougher Engineers add variety to encounters.
Beyond the main adventure, Arena Mode challenges you to survive waves and rack up 100 kills for the Body Bags medal, while Sandbox Mode lets you create your own violent encounters. The game is built with Godot and features music from Lunathemoth, Kevin MacLeod, and other contributors.
