To make Jonathan happy, you have to find a stray dog outside of the city and kind of put it in the dog house where Jonathan goes. Then follow him to the park until the picture of the park pops up over his head. After that talk to Eric and tell him that Jonathan goes to the park. Eric will then be at the park waiting for Jonathan, and they'll start talking again
