Super Smash Flash 2 is a free, fan-made platform fighting game that pays tribute to the legendary Super Smash Bros. series while carving out its own identity. Developed by Gregory “Cleod9” McLeod and the McLeodGaming team, SSF2 expands on the original Super Smash Flash with refined mechanics, smoother animations, and a much deeper selection of modes and characters.
The game features a diverse roster that blends iconic video game legends with popular characters from other franchises, including anime-inspired fighters, creating a crossover experience rarely seen in browser-based games. Each character comes with unique moves, special attacks, and playstyles, making every match feel different and rewarding for both casual players and competitive fans.
Instead of health bars, Super Smash Flash 2 uses a percentage-based damage system. As fighters take hits, their damage percentage rises, causing them to be launched farther when struck. This system emphasizes timing, positioning, and skillful knockouts by sending opponents flying off the stage.
SSF2 offers a wide range of game modes. Solo players can enjoy Classic Mode, Event challenges, Stadium mini-games, and Training Mode to master combos and techniques. Controls are fully customizable, supporting both keyboard and controller setups for comfort and precision. Best of all, Super Smash Flash 2 runs directly in your browser with no downloads required, making it easy to jump into fast-paced action anytime. Multiplayer-focused modes include Time and Stock battles, Special Smash rule variations, and fun Arena modes like Sandbag Soccer and Basketball, perfect for chaotic group play.
UPDATE Beta v1.4.0:
In the major version 1.4 update, fans got a huge content boost with the long-awaited addition of King Dedede as a playable character, complete resprites for fighters like Lloyd, and a complete redesign of Goku from the ground up. Tails also received a full moveset rework. Several new stages such as Dedede Arena and Jungle Island were introduced, along with new items, Pokémon (including shiny variants), and assist trophies like Air Man and Vegeta. Classic Mode was revamped, and a hitbox viewer in Training Mode was added to improve practice sessions, alongside music updates, balancing changes, and lots of bug fixes.
